Church Work

The church in Yekaterinburg does a variety of different works - both internal and external.

Internal work:
Sunday Worship: We worship every Sunday in spirit and in Truth (Acts 20:7 & John 4:24).  We sing praises to the Lord without the aid of mechanical instruments, pray, hear a message from God's Word, and partake of the Lord's supper.  Following our worship period, we engage in different activities.
The first and third Sundays of the month we have split Bible studies for the men and women. We are currently studying the Gospel of Mark.
The second Sunday of the month we have a singing circle during which we learn new songs and sing some of our favorite older ones.
On the fourth Sunday, we all enjoy a tea party together.  We play games and fellowship with one another.
Bible Reading:  To encourage personal Bible study among the members, in our bulletin we have a monthly reading schedule. In 2006, we read through the entire Bible as a congregation. Every day of last year we read from the New Testament. And this year we are going through the Psalms. We encourage everyone to read his Bible!

Bible classes:  Every Wednesday evening we gather together to study the Word of God.  This is an intellectual class filled with rich discussions and examination of the text.  We are currently studying the letter to the Ephesians.  On every Saturday, we are studying from the book of Leviticus and applying this Old Testament book to our daily lives.
Children's Bible class:  On Sundays, we hand out a children's bulletin about that week's sermon, so that the kids can follow along at their own level. This encourages parent/child discussions about the lesson.  In the assembly room we have a designated table where they can sit quietly and learn. On Saturday we have a Bible class for children.  This includes a story from the Bible, activity sheets and a craft for the child.
Visiting Shut-ins:  As often as possible, we try to visit those who are less fortunate and not able to leave their homes anymore.  We try to bring some comfort and joy into these precious lives.
Weekly bulletin:  Every week, one of the members of the congregation puts together a weekly paper for the members.  This includes upcoming events and announcements as well as an interesting article about religious matters.
Young adults evening:  Once every other month, the young adults get together and have a fun evening.  This includes playing games, watching good movies, or other clean activities.  And of course taking some time for a devotional.
Parties:  On Russian holidays and other special events, the church celebrates with a fun party, food, and activities!

External work:
Correspondance Course:  The church provides a free course about the Bible via electronic or hard copy.  This is a 24 lesson course divided into two sections.
Bible studies:  We encourage the opportunity to study with any person who is interested in discussing the Bible and the Church.
Benevolence: We give food and other necessities to those who are truly in need.
Park Ministry: After school hours, we interact and play with children, encouraging them to be involved in sports and other good activities and at the same time providing a moral environment.
Children's homes: We help support two children's homes in the Sverdlosk region.  A small home in Degtarsk is run by members of the church and we help them with this good work.  We also work with another home in Rivda, which has around 60 children.  In turn they allow us to do some volunteer teaching there, including a VBS.
Journal - Light to the World: This is a journal written by members of the church and given out as an evangelism tool.  It is centered around uplifting others and encouraging spiritual growth.
